You [also] have the option to elect Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) insurance to meet your needs. Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) insurance is a limited benefit policy. It is not health insurance and does not satisfy the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Features of Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) insurance include:

  • Flexibility: You can use the benefit money for any purpose you like.
  • Payroll deductions: Premiums are paid through convenient payroll deductions.
  • Portable: Should you leave your current employer or retire, you can take your coverage with you.

What Maximum Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) Benefit am I eligible for?

Adelphi University provides you with the opportunity to purchase a Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) Benefit of $5,000–$30,000 in $5,000 increments. In addition, you also may purchase a Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) Benefit of $5,000–$15,000 in $5,000 increments for your spouse and a Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) Benefit of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000 for each covered child.

What is Accident Insurance?

Accident insurance pays you benefits for specific events resulting from a covered accident. The amount paid depends on the type of accident and care received. You have the option to elect accident insurance to meet your needs.

Accident insurance is a limited benefit policy. It is not health insurance and does not satisfy the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act. You may qualify to receive benefits for items listed below, as long as they are the result of a covered accident. See the certificate of insurance and any riders for specific details.

How Much does Accident Insurance Cost?

All employees pay the same rate, no matter their age.

Who is eligible for Critical Illness/Cancer (Specified Disease) Insurance and Accident Insurance?

  • You—all full time active employees working.
  • Your spouse—under age 70. Coverage is available only if Employee coverage is elected.
  • Your child(ren)—to age 26. Coverage is available only if Employee coverage is elected.

Go to VOYA’s Claim Forms Library, to access required claim forms. Click on the left had side and select Accident or Critical Illness/Specified Disease or Wellness Benefit.
